Day 17: Santona to near Galizano



From Santona we take the cyclists route as the camino was described as a 'mild scramble' which might be difficult with the backpacks and shopping trolley!





Arriving at Argonos we decide to keep to the main road (CA-141) directly to Bareyo. This by-passes Helgueras, Noja and Castillo

At this point we leave the main road and rejoin the camino to visit the 12th century Church of Santa Maria de Bareyo (top & below)

Next door was a handy bar for rest & refreshment. Here we asked directions to the refugio


Alas our poor Spanish made us misunderstand and after another 2.5 hours walking we found a hotel instead
