Walking notes by
Rob Steele As I had done the extra kilometres the day before this turned out to be a shorter day than originally planned and this really turned out for the best !! The first reason was that this was the day that the Camino Primitivo went over the highest "Alto" of the entire route, "Peurto del Palo" at 1140m, a long and tiring accent not made any easier because the weather had again turned !! Horizontal driving rain on the summit making it all but impossible to stand up, let alone see which way the route went. Never-the-less I was able to follow the route off the summit and make my way to Berducedo where another walking companion was joining me, Birgit from Berlin. The weather was much improved by the time she arrived on the Alsa bus from Oviedo and we walked the remaining 4.5k to La Messa. Fewer villages on the "Way" only 2 having bars so not so many breaks on this day !! | |
