Stage 12 - Montserrat to Igualada

Leaving Montserrat before dawn

and a moment later, the sun appears

The sign to the des Dagotalls path - a level roadway where most of the towns of Spain have placed plaques to Our Lady of Montserrat



Here are two examples - most have the Virgin as a white lady

though there are a few showing her as she is in the church

There are some good wild flowers

The GR171 stays above the road, but it has many inclines and declines, and is quite stony, so is very slow going. The road gives one a better view of the mountains and is much less tiring





There is a short tunnel on the road, with a signed pilgrim path outside it

I tried a short section of the GR172 path

but it was slow going, and when I found some concrete steps down to the road again, I went down them.
