Stage 15N - Tàrrega to Balaguer

At Tàrrega the Way divides. This page shows the start of the northern route goes through Balaguer and Huesca to join the Aragonés Way at the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña near Jaca. The soutern route goes through Fraga and Zaragoza, and then follows the valley of the Ebro river to join the French Way at Logroño. To start the northern route, make for the railway station, and turn left for 100 metres or so. When you come to the first level crossing, cross over the railway, and turn half left (so you do not follow the road alongside the railway but the one next to it)

Soon, the asphalt turns into a "rural path"

and crosses the autovia

Later, you reach the Canal d'Urgell which since its construction in the 19th century, has brought great prosprity to this part of Catalunya.

The Casa Rebalta which has a sundial by its front door

There are many apple orchards here - great lines of apple trees trained as espaliers so that tractors can get between the rows for pruning and spraying insecticides
